Jahrhunderts von Graf Johann III. von Katzenelnbogen erbaut. Die Trutzburg, die zun\u00e4chst\u00a0<strong>Neu-Katzenelnbogen<\/strong>\u00a0genannt wurde, erhielt Anfang des 15. Jahrhundert im Volksmund \u201cBurg Katz\u201d genannt. Dies gefiel ebenfalls dem Grafen und so nannte er die Burg in Folge auch selber so, und die stromabw\u00e4rts benachbarte \u2018Burg Thurnberg\u2019 nannte er scherzhaft die \u2018Maus\u2019, was sich wiederum auch im Volksmund durchsetzte und so haben wir heute im Mittelrheintal eine \u2018Burg Katz\u2019 und eine \u2018Burg Maus\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Burg Katz<\/strong>\u00a0steht als Hangburg oberhalb der rechtsrheinischen Stadt<strong>\u00a0St. Goarshausen<\/strong>, gegen\u00fcber von St. Goar, in Sichtweite zum\u00a0<strong>Loreleyfelsen<\/strong>, zur\u00a0<strong>Ruine Rheinfels<\/strong>\u00a0und zur\u00a0<strong>Burg Maus<\/strong>. Wenn man so will, erreicht an dieser Stelle die\u00a0<strong>Rheinromantik<\/strong>\u00a0ihren H\u00f6hepunkt.
