Jahrhunderts als Zollwachturm erbaut. Er wurde w\u00e4hrend des Pf\u00e4lzischen Erbfolgekrieges 1689 zerst\u00f6rt. Der preu\u00dfische K\u00f6nig Friedrich Wilhelm IV. lie\u00df ihn von 1856 bis 1858 im neugotischen Stil wiederaufbauen. Von 1850 bis 1974 diente er als Signalturm f\u00fcr die Rheinschifffahrt, zur Regelung des Schiffsverkehrs an der\u00a0<strong>Binger Loch<\/strong>\u00a0genannten Engstelle am Beginn\u00a0<strong>Mittelrheintals<\/strong>.
